Book 2 Update
It has been a wild summer. After changing the path of book 2 late last year, finishing the first draft and now working on the re-edit, a ton of ideas, character development and extensions of the main story have emerged. When I started the re-edit, I was at 135k words which was about 35k less than A New Age of Man (figure about a 100 pages). I was good with that knowing I would probably add some content along the way and bring it up close to the first book. I was quite proud of myself.
Little did I know that only little way past 2/3’s of the way through the re-edit I’ve already filled that gap, and there is still quite a bit more to come. Needless to say, book 2 is looking to be a fair bit longer than its predecessor.
Now, speaking of book 2, I have come upon a ‘tentative’ title, “The Source of Change”. This has a bit of a double entendre which I like, with Source, for obvious reasons, and the massive amounts of change that the world, and our characters will be exposed to. I have been agonizing on a title for quite some time so it’s finally nice to have something in the wings that I like.
There is a lot going on in book 2, so much so, even as the writer, I find myself spending a lot of time re-framing myself between the different storylines. It’s a lot and I sometimes wonder if its too much, but I’m plowing forward to see where I end up, before anxiously awaiting for feedback from my beta readers.
Suffice it to say that while book 1 introduced everyone to the world, the expansion of all those implications in A New Age of Man, are about to explode.
